FAQ
CLUB INFORMATION :
There are two main soccer seasons; Spring and Fall. Summer and Winter are used as training seasons and often teams play in smaller, more local leagues to keep active in the sport.
The “U” stands for "under,” as in “that age & under”.
The trick is in when you look at the age.
For example, the U11 team is open to players who are 11 years old and under at the end of the calendar year (Dec. 31st) in which the "soccer year" ends. Note that the soccer year starts with fall season and ends with the spring season.
So for the 2017-2018 soccer year that begins in the fall of 2017 and ends after the spring 2018 season, a child can play U11 in the fall of 2017 or the spring of 2018 as long as they are not turning 12 by Dec 31st of 2018. Put more simply, a child born in 2007 or 2008 is eligible to play U11 in the fall of 2017 and the spring of 2018.

PARENT INFORMATION:
One of the best ways to encourage not only the development of your child’s soccer skills but also their love of the game is Free Play.
Get them outside into unstructured games with their friends and teammates. This allows them to play without fear of being criticized for mistakes, to take creative risks and to just have fun.
Every season you should receive a player evaluation from your child’s coach. This should be a one on one session that provides not only a numeric qualitative rating of your child but also a more subjective evaluation of areas where you child has improved during the season and what they can focus on in the future to improve further.
In addition, you should expect that the coach provide open lines of communication all throughout the season as to how the team is performing and specifically towards the end of the season, the anticipated direction of the team for the upcoming year.
YES!! OTUSA is an all-volunteer organization. In addition to coaches and assistant coaches, the program routinely requires others willing to lend assistance. Prior soccer experience is not required. We are always looking for parents to lend a hand maintaining fields, helping with websites/social media, obtaining sponsors, volunteering time at tournaments, etc…
If you or a family member (sibling etc..) would like to volunteer please email us: contact@oceansoccer.com
